Expresses that something happens as intended or as scheduled. In Japanese, this is often conveyed through set phrases, adverbs, or conditional expressions rather than a single direct equivalent.

Do not directly translate 'according to' as 〜によると when talking about plans. 〜によると is for hearsay or sources of information (e.g., 'according to the news'). Use 〜通り (どおり) instead.
会議は予定通り始まりました。
The meeting started as scheduled.
飛行機は予定通り到着した。
The plane arrived on schedule.

Everything is going according to plan.
Means 'smoothly' or 'without a hitch', often implying things are going as planned. Used with verbs like 進む (progress) or 行く (go).

Literally 'as one wishes/thought'. Used when things go exactly as someone wanted or intended, often with a nuance of personal desire.
人生はなかなか思い通りにいかない。
Life rarely goes according to plan.
Literally 'if it goes according to plan'. More explicit about following a plan.
計画通りに行けば、来月完成する。
If things go according to plan, it will be completed next month.
