Means 'not frequent'. More direct and slightly formal.
この花は珍しいですね。
This flower is uncommon, isn't it?
彼が遅刻するのは珍しい。
It's uncommon for him to be late.
Literally 'not often seen'. Used for things you don't encounter frequently.
この鳥はあまり見かけない。
This bird is uncommon to see.
Means 'rare' or 'infrequent'. Slightly more formal or written than 珍しい.

This disease is uncommon.
