In Japanese, the word for 'chimney' depends on context. The most common term is 煙突 (えんとつ), used for industrial and household chimneys. For traditional Japanese architecture, 煙出し (けむだし) refers to a smoke vent. In geological contexts, 煙道 (えんどう) is used for volcanic vents.
煙突
chimney (general)
A vertical pipe or structure that carries smoke from a fire or furnace to the outside.
The standard word for chimney in most contexts, from factory smokestacks to house chimneys.

An opening in the roof of a traditional Japanese house to let out smoke from an open hearth.
Specifically refers to a smoke vent in a traditional Japanese house with a thatched or tiled roof, often above an irori (open hearth).

A narrow vertical passage in the earth through which magma or gases escape.

煙 (けむり) means 'smoke', not 'chimney'. 煙突 is literally 'smoke tube'.
