合成画像 is the broadest term for any combined image. コラージュ implies an artistic arrangement of separate elements, often with a handmade feel. モンタージュ is used for artistic or filmic composites, often with a surreal or conceptual intent.
Avoid directly translating 'composite image' as 複合画像 (fukugō gazō). While understandable, it is not a standard term and sounds unnatural.
