死ねと言われて、彼は激怒した。

Unlike English, Japanese doesn't have a direct equivalent of 'fuck' as a versatile swear word. Instead, different phrases are used depending on whether you want to insult, dismiss, or express frustration. くそ is the closest general expletive, while 死ね is a direct personal insult.
くそ! vs 死ね!
'Fuck!' (frustration) vs 'Fuck you!' (insult)
These expressions are highly context-dependent. Among close friends in a joking manner, some milder forms like うざいんだよ might be used playfully, but with strangers or superiors, any of these can be extremely rude. When in doubt, avoid them entirely.
ちくしょう!なんでこうなるんだ。
Fuck! Why does this always happen?
