In Japanese, expressing 'inner thoughts' depends on whether you mean your own private feelings, what you're thinking at the moment, or a character's internal monologue. Direct translation is often unnatural; instead, use phrases for 'what I really think', 'in my mind', or narrative patterns.

Literally 'what (I) am thinking'. A natural way to refer to one's thoughts.

Describing the voice in one's head, especially in narratives or when talking to oneself.
Literally 'voice of the heart'. Used for inner voice or conscience, common in casual and literary contexts.

The direct translation '内なる考え' is not natural Japanese. Use the phrases above depending on context.
本音 is your true opinion, often hidden in social situations. 内心 is more about secret feelings or what you think deep down, not necessarily an opinion.
本音は言わなかった。
I kept my inner thoughts to myself.
彼女は心の中を日記に書いた。
She wrote down her inner thoughts in a diary.
