Translation guide
The English word "name" can refer to a person's name, the name of a thing, or the act of naming. In Japanese, the most common equivalent is 名前 (なまえ), but the appropriate word depends on context, politeness, and whether you are referring to a full name, given name, family name, or the name of an object. Japanese also uses honorifics and titles more often than names in direct address.
