ランク is the most common and versatile for 'rank'. 等級 is more formal and often used for official classifications (e.g., membership tiers, product grades). 段階 implies a step or stage in a process, not necessarily a hierarchical rank.

This tea is of the highest grade.

While 一ランク (いちらんく) is sometimes used, 一つ上のランク or 一つ下のランク is much more natural. Using 一 alone can sound stiff or like a direct translation.
