The English word 'district' can be translated as 地区 (ちく) or 区域 (くいき), but in natural Japanese, 住宅地 is usually sufficient. Adding 地区 or 区域 can make the phrase sound overly formal or bureaucratic unless you are specifically talking about administrative divisions.
