The most common and general word for soap, covering both solid bar soap and liquid soap. Use this in everyday conversation.

Loanword from English, often used in product names or commercial contexts. Can sound slightly more modern or stylish, but 石鹸 is more natural in daily speech.

There is no direct slang equivalent using 'soap'. Instead, use standard words for bribe: 賄賂 (わいろ) or the colloquial 袖の下 (そでのした).

石鹸 (soap) is for washing skin, while 洗剤 (せんざい) means detergent for laundry or dishes. Using 石鹸 for laundry soap is possible but less common; specify 洗濯石鹸 (せんたくせっけん) if needed.

If you need to distinguish, say 固形石鹸 (こけいせっけん) for bar soap and 液体石鹸 (えきたいせっけん) for liquid soap. In most contexts, just 石鹸 is fine.
