抑制 (yokusei) is general restraint or control, often of emotions or functions. 抑圧 (yokuatsu) implies forceful suppression, often by authority, or psychological repression. 鎮圧 (chin'atsu) specifically means quelling a riot or rebellion by force.
抑圧 (yokuatsu) sounds harsh and is usually about external force or deep psychology. For holding back your own feelings, use 抑える (osaeru) or 我慢 (gaman).
