品がない is a softer, more general expression meaning 'lacks refinement'. 下品 is stronger and explicitly means 'vulgar' or 'crude'. Use 下品 when the behavior is clearly offensive or obscene.

下品な言葉を使わないで。
Don't use vulgar language.
Avoid directly translating 'tasteless' as 無味 (mumi) in everyday conversation about food. It sounds technical. Use 味がない instead.
