Korea
韓 refers specifically to Korea, the country. It is used in names and terms related to Korea, such as 韓国 (South Korea).
韓 originally referred to a fence or enclosure, and later came to be used as the name for the Korean peninsula. The modern form combines 韋 (tanned leather) with a left side that may have represented a phonetic element, but the exact historical development is uncertain.
The left side looks like a gate with a cross on top, and the right side 韋 suggests leather or a boundary. Imagine a traditional Korean gate made of leather and wood, marking the entrance to Korea.
For カン, think of a can of Korean kimchi: can -> カン, and the kanji represents Korea.
