なければならない

Expresses obligation or necessity. なければならない is slightly more formal and objective than なければいけない, which can sound more personal or urgent. The polite forms (なければなりません, なければいけません) are used in formal speech. The classical variants (ねばならない, ねばならぬ) are literary or old-fashioned.

• 明日あしたまでにレポートを提てい出しゅつしなければならない。

  I have to submit the report by tomorrow.

• もっと勉べん強きょうしなければいけない。

  I need to study more.

• ここでは静しずかにしなければなりません。

  You must be quiet here.
