Describes moving along a path, edge, or route, often with a sense of following it closely. Commonly used with ～を伝って (～をつたって).

• 川かわ岸ぎしを伝つたって歩あるいた。

  I walked along the riverbank.

• 壁かべを伝つたって逃にげる。

  Escape by going along the wall.
