Conjunctive particle used after the attributive form of a verb, adjective, or の to contrast two aspects of the same situation. Often translated as 'while', 'although', or 'but'.
この仕事はきつい反面、やりがいがある。
This job is tough, but on the other hand, it's rewarding.
While he is strict, he also has a kind side.

Used in the pattern その反面 to explicitly contrast a second point with the first. Similar to sense 1 but more explicitly contrastive.

Rare literal noun meaning the other side or reverse of something. Not commonly used in modern Japanese; the conjunctive uses are far more frequent.
コインの反面には別の模様が刻まれている。
On the reverse side of the coin, a different pattern is engraved.
