They lead a self-sufficient life deep in the mountains.
地球上の生物は、それぞれの環境で生命活動を営んでいる。
Living things on Earth carry on life activities in their respective environments.

A formal use for Buddhist or Shinto ceremonies, commonly with 法要, 祭礼, or 神事. Passive forms such as 営まれる are also common in announcements and reports.

An autumn festival rite was held at the shrine.
