留りゅう年ねん

repeating a school year; staying back a grade

Used for students who must repeat a year of school or university because of insufficient credits or poor grades.

• 単たん位いが足たりなくて留りゅう年ねんしそうだ。

  I might have to repeat the year because I don't have enough credits.

• 留りゅう年ねんすると学がく費ひがもう一いち年ねんかかる。
