Usually used in negative or conditional contexts to indicate that the future is uncertain or a plan cannot be made yet. Often appears as 見通しが立たない or 見通しが立たなければ.
来年の予算はまだ見通しが立たない。
The budget for next year is still uncertain.
いつ完成するか見通しが立
There is no telling when it will be completed.
