indescribable; beyond words; having no way to express
Used when something is so extreme, vague, or complex that the speaker cannot find adequate words. Often follows a noun or clause with と, or modifies a noun directly.

彼の態度
I felt an indescribable discomfort at his attitude.
Synonymous; 言いようのない is the attributive form used directly before nouns, while 言いようがない is the predicative form. Both are interchangeable in many contexts.
Compound of 言い (the continuative form of 言う 'to say') + 様 (way, manner) + が + ない (not exist). Literally 'there is no way of saying'.
