internal factional violence; infighting within a student group
Originally used for violent clashes between factions of the same student movement, especially in the 1960s–70s Japanese New Left. Now can refer to any internal strife within an organization, but still carries a strong activist/historical connotation.
当時の学生運動では内ゲバが頻発した。
Internal factional violence broke out frequently in the student movements of that time.
組織の内ゲバで活動が停滞している。
The organization's activities are stalled due to infighting.
